04/10/2007: "Bishop Creek"

Well today was a first for me. This is the earliest I have ever driven to Lake Sabrina and South Lake. Both roads are open all the way to the trail heads. I had a feeling I might make it to Sabrina, but I didn't expect to make it to South Lake. There is still snow along the road to South Lake, but the parking areas are clear.

Both lakes are still frozen, but the ice on Sabrina is looking very thin by the dam. I wouldn't be afraid to bet that it will be open for fishing on opening day. The ice on South Lake still looks pretty thick. I will put up a new picture from up at South Lake a little later.

Intake II is looking like it's ready for fishing right now.

Thanks for the report. I'm headed up to the Buttermilk area for some camping next week and just may head up to the South Lake area to hike. Any idea about the North Lake road?

PS It's good to have you back and know how you are doing.
