04/20/2007: "Tuolumne Meadows, weather and fishing opener"

Just read the latest Tuolumne Meadows report. It was posted on the 18th. The official snow depth in the meadows is 0 inches. They say that most areas below 7500 feet are free of snow and that at 8500 feet the only snow is in shady areas and north facing slopes. The meadows got 3 inches from the storm last weekend, but it melted pretty quick.

Now, there is a pretty big storm forecast for this weekend. Both the National Weather Service, and our local guy are calling for large accumulations on Saturday night and Sunday. They are saying 1-2 feet right now. Guess we'll have to see. They are also hinting that this could be the last big storm of the season. The storm today has been a bust so far, with only and inch or so up on Mammoth Mtn.

As of right now, the forecast for opening day weekend is fair and warm.
