04/25/2007: "Sierra Road updates"

Tioga plowing; According to the Yosemite National Park site the plow crew is now 43.9 miles from the Crane Flat gate. I just measured it on Google Earth and that puts them in the Dana Meadows area. They are only a mile or so from the pass. Two miles at the most. So they're getting close.

Hwy 4 Ebbitts Pass; The pass is still closed, but it sounds like they only have a few more miles to plow.

Hwy 108 Sonora Pass; Sonora Pass will be open this weekend. But then will close again for about 8 days while they do some road work.

Hey Steve,

Well yr measurement was top. The last NPS update confirms that they reached Tioga Pass. So the basic work is completed. Quote

" Tioga Road progress for April 25, 2007

Starting Location:43.9 miles from Crane Flat gate

Ending Location: 46 miles miles from Crane Flat Gate (Tioga Pass)

Distance plowed today: 2.1 miles

Snow depth: 1 to 5 feet

Road widening and opening of secondary roads and parking lots is ongoing. Unquote

There's a good chance now that the road opens early May........I guess.

Thx

Bram
