05/04/2007: "Humming Bird Central"

I wish I had a web cam that I could set up at my hummingbird feeder right now. I'm sitting here on the couch with the laptop on my lap watching at least six hummingbirds buzzing and dancing around the feeder. Oh my, just a second ago there were four feeding, one at each flower, and two more hovering and waiting, and then two more showed up!! I've been feeding humming birds forever and never have I seen anything like that. Now two are sitting on the clothes line and one is feeding.

There are five feeding at four flowers right now!! I'm not kidding. My jaw is on the ground. I must have the best nectar in the neighborhood. WOW!!

Can you tell that I'm just a little excited. I'm going to try to get a picture of it.

I could only get a picture of three at the feeder. Hang on, maybe this time more will come........

Nope. I think things are slowing down for the night. I will try to get a picture tomorrow.
I was excited the other day when four hummingbirds were hanging out. Now I have at least eight!! They're fat little suckers too big grin
What a cool way to end a pretty yucky day.
BTW I'm feeling a little better since my nap this afternoon.

It doesn't surprise me that you have tham many hummingbirds in your yard feeding. Cecil & I have some friends in Bishop that have several feeders and they have lots and lots of hummingbirds coming and going. Sometimes it's impossible to sit outside as they like bomb you flying by but so much fun to watch. Living in Camarillo, CA I to feed the hummingbirds and whatever else fly's by my yard. It's so much fun watching them until those early morning wake up calls like you had last week at 2,3,4 in the morning - HA! We have the same problem here during certain times of the year. Take care of yourself with that cold. Thanks for the update Steve....

We are glad you are feeling better. Rest is important.. You probably have been going non stop, in more ways than one. Hummingbirds are so cool. I ended up having to put up another feeder, one little dude was too dominant, and wouldn't share!! Take a deep breathe for us.. Smell that wonderful air.
Take care. Oh and one more thing, I love 'Visions' I look every day!!
Thanks Steven, you are a great guy.
