You guys might want to click refresh on your browser in order to get the right picture up for the game. The picture today should be of a lake.
But yes Robin, the picture before was the lower Buttermilk area.

Where in the Sierra is it?

Since things are a bit dry here in the Eastern Sierra and I'm not out taking to many pictures, I've decided to offer you guys a little game. I'm calling it "Where in the Sierra is it?"
Every few days I'll post one of my older pictures and ask you guys to guess where it was taken, or what it is of, or what the name of the peak is, or anything else I can think of to challenge you with.
Sound like fun?
You guys can answer by commenting on the post.

So today's picture is up.
See if you can guess where in the Sierra it is.
For some of you it should be an easy one.

Re: Ally

Ally,
I use a Minolta DImage A2 digital. It's the same camera I've been using for the past three years now. It is an 8 megapixel DSLR. You can't change lenses on it, but it has a 28-200mm lens and I have an external lens that screws on to make it 300mm. It also has an anti-shake function that works great. I can easily hand hold at 300mm with the anti-shake on and get sharp images.
With all the new digital cameras that have come out recently, mine is a little out of date now, but I still love it. And as you can see, it takes great images. All of the pictures on SierraVisions have been shot with this camera.
It does have a view finder, but I rarely use it. When I'm shooting landscapes I use the LCD screen on the back 90% of the time. I find it much easier to compose pictures that way. I have started using the view finder more now that I'm hand holding the camera to shoot deer and birds.
I'd say the biggest drawback is the view finder though. It's not like a traditional SLR where you are looking through the lens. Instead it's a digital image that you see. But I feel that the advantages of shooting digital far out weigh the view finder. I love seeing my images as soon as I get home. And I love the control I have over the final image.
So there you go

BRRRRRrrrrrrr

Hi guys,
Hope everyone has been staying warm the last five days or so. You guys down in Southern California aren't use to this. Well to tell the truth, we aren't use to it being this cold in Bishop either. It does seem like the coldest temps are over with for now.
Here are the lows in my back yard since Thursday:
12, 1, 7, 9, 12
Friday night was the coldest. The real temp was 0.9
Up in the mountains the temps have been in the minuses with the coldest I saw at Bodie, -27.
The worse part of all this cold is no snow. As long as it stays this cold it's not going to snow. And the forecast for the Sierra isn't a good one for the rest of the month. Looks like it's going to stay dry.
So remember when you say your prayers at night to pray for snow in the Sierra.
