New Camera

July 31st, 2007 Author: Steven

I got a new toy that I haven’t told you guys about yet. Tammy’s mom and dad bought me a new Cannon DSLR camera. It’s nice!! They gave it to me while they were here a couple of weeks ago. It was a total surprise to me. I thought the camera was Sam’s and then she told me it was mine. I think I almost fell off of the couch.

I didn’t say anything about it before ’cause I wanted to wait till I turned it into my dream camera by buying the lenses I wanted for it. Well I got them now. And here are the first shots with it. These were shot up Lee Vining Creek. In all of these shots I was standing in the same position so you can get an idea of how much wide angle and zoom I have now. With my telephoto I can zoom in even more than what these pics show. So i should be able to shoot birds and wildlife now.

As always, click on the thumbnail for the larger image.

Waiting

July 29th, 2007 Author: Steven

“Waiting”

I see your eyes still staring
Deeply into mine
The love that we created
Is flowing inside
An though now your eyes are closed
And dream eternal dreams
Know that
I’m still here waiting
While you wait for me

I’m still here waiting
While you wait for me

The life that we were sharing
Ended suddenly
It seemed we just got it started
When they called you to leave
And though now our life’s been scattered
By the hand of Fate’s breeze
Know that
I’m still here waiting
While you wait for me

I’m still here waiting
While you wait for me

You often did dream
That together we’d fly
Hand in hand we’d launch ourselves
High in the sky
And though now you fly forever
With Heaven’s full wings
Know that
I’m still here waiting
While you wait for me

I’m still here waiting
While you wait for me

I sometimes sit wondering
Guitar in my hand
Playing and singing
‘Cause I don’t understand
And though at times I wish to join you
It’s not yet time for me
So know that
I’m still here waiting
While you wait for me

I’ll be right here waiting
While you wait for me

I’m still here

July 29th, 2007 Author: Steven

Sorry about the unannounced week away. It hasn’t been a good week for me. It’s been filled with lots of confused, sad, angry, upsetting thoughts. I was also not feeling well for three days. I even threw a major temper tantrum yesterday, and guess what? I felt much better after that. It’s good that I didn’t have anything breakable in my hand when I erupted. Instead I fell on the bed and beat the crap out of my pillow and had a huge cry. It’s amazing how much better that makes you feel. I guess it’s all part of what you go through when you lose your best friend and soul mate.

Something that’s interesting about this last week, I was able to write the poem I have wanted to write since Tammy’s death. There’s a part of me that thinks everything I went through last week had to do with that poem coming out. It’s been inside of me for months, I could feel it in there, but it wouldn’t come out. Maybe I just needed to unplug a few things in my heart and soul so it could come to the surface.  It’s one of the most soulful and heartfelt things I have ever written and every time I read it I get teary. I will post it after this post.

I’m feeling better now and life continues on. I’m hoping that the worse of the bad times are over. I haven’t had a week like that in awhile, I hope I don’t have another for a long while.

Weather update

July 22nd, 2007 Author: Steven

Thunderstorms will return to the Sierra Nevada starting tomorrow. A good stream of Monsoon moisture is heading into California starting this evening and is forecast to continue all week. So let’s start thinking RAIN RAIN RAIN. If rain comes with these storms the Sierra should be ok. If not, then the chances of lightning fires will be very high again. This could be a busy and interesting week. At least there are fire fighting crews all over the Eastern Sierra right now.

Flying over White Mtn Peak

Rick Masters, who I sent the fire pictures to, has given us a little treat in appreciation of me letting him use the photos. He is a photographer and videographer (I guess that’s the right word) and also it appears a hang glider.

Check out this video he sent me. It speaks for itself. And make sure to turn on your speakers.

Thanks Rick!
And if you have anymore goodies you’d like to send our way, we’ll take them :-)
