Here I go……………

November 25th, 2007 Author: Steven

Ok guys, here it is, the official announcement.
I’ll be leaving for Wisconsin this Friday the 30th.
It’s pretty hard for me to believe, I only have four more days in the Eastern Sierra. Wow!!

So I’ll be leaving on Friday, having Scout with me and with my brother driving the U-haul truck it’s going to take us three days to get there, so I should be there on Sunday.

Hopefully I can get my internet turned on right away. If not I’ll find access somewhere and let you guys know that I made it ok.

Web Cam Page Comments

I just did some clean up of the comments on the cams page. It was getting a little long. I left the comments with links to cams that I have yet to put on the list (Maybe once I get settled in Madison I’ll get to that.) and the most recent comments.

Window of the Past

November 18th, 2007 Author: Steven

“Window of the Past”

I once came upon
Some old petroglyphs
Carved into old desert stone

The slow fading memories
Of a lost ancient people
That once called this valley their home

Deeply I gazed through
This window of the past
Before me was a world that I’ve never known

A time forgotten wilderness
That once was the Earth
Where nature was still free to roam

The mountains were standing
As they still stand today
Yet it all seemed different somehow

The valley a little greener
The air a little sweeter
The sky a little bluer than now

I then saw the people
Who wrote these strange poems
Preparing for the upcoming day

But when they all turned their heads
At the sound of an airplane
The vision started fading away

So I opened my eyes
(Were they ever really closed)
And a teardrop fell to the ground

And as I knelt there in silence
Not wanting to leave
I said thank you to these spirits I’d found

Then slowly I walked back
To my truck and my world
Careful to not make a sound

Update on Me

November 15th, 2007 Author: Steven

I just wanted to give you guys an update on how things are going with my move to Wisconsin. I now have a place to live back there. Just signed the lease and mailed the rent and deposit checks yesterday. I haven’t even seen the place, but Cande says it’s really nice. They are putting in all new appliances and totally redoing the bathroom. The lady who owns it has been great to talk to on the phone. It’s a two bedroom upstairs apartment. There is only one other apartment in the building and that’s below me. It has a large yard and garden and is in a very nice neighborhood. In fact, it’s only a couple of blocks from the house that Tammy grew up in. The schools she went to are just down the street. I didn’t plan on that happening at all, but at least know what the area looks like because we drove all around it while I was back there.

Also, just this afternoon I applied for a job at the University of Wisconsin Hospital as a supply tech.

Wow! Things are moving along pretty quickly now. I don’t think it’s totally sunk in yet.

I can’t move into the place until the first of Dec. so i still have a couple more weeks in the Eastern Sierra. But I have a lot of packing and planning to do in the next two weeks. I am hoping to squeeze in a day trip to Yosemite though :-)
