Feeling all a Twitter

February 28th, 2009 Author: Steven

I’ve went and started a Twitter account. Why? Why not. So for those of you who have Twitter accounts, you can now follow me on there. For those who don’t have account, go make one and start following me on there :-)

My profile name is of course, SierraVisions.

I’ll  be tweeting about updates to SierraVisions and my Flickr photostream. I’ll also be throwing any other nonsense that pops in my head on there. After all they do ask you, “What are you doing?” so it’s hard to say how I might answer that.

Going to Yosemite Valley? Then SLOW DOWN!!

February 28th, 2009 Author: Steven

I just read on the Tree in the Door blog that two of the bears that David had been watching and filming, he called them the Creek Bears, were hit by speeding cars in Yosemite Valley on Thursday. You know it really ticks me off when I see people speeding through Yosemite. You’re not in the city anymore, slow down and enjoy the drive and the scenery. Not to mention that you just might save the life of a wild animal.

Bear Creek Spire

Bear Creek Spire, Eastern Sierra Nevada, CA USA

One of my favorite Sierra peaks, Bear Creek Spite stands at the head of the Little Lakes Valley and Rock Creek. Measuring 13,713 feet in elevation, it is truly one of the most awesome and beautifuly sculpted peaks in the Sierra.

Sierra Snowpack Looking Better……

February 27th, 2009 Author: Steven

But it’s still got a little ways to go.

February has been a good month for the Sierra snowpack with an overall increase of 25% from January. The January measurement put the snowpack at 61% of normal, it is now 76% of normal.

The Northern Sierra has benefited most this month going from 49% in Jan. to 73% in Feb. The Central Sierra went from 63% to 76%, and the Southern Sierra from 68% to 81%.

More storms are forecast for this weekend and early next week. The storm for the first of the week could be a big one. Let’s hope for another March Miracle.
