Two Years Ago Today

Two years ago today, I said goodbye to my Sierra Nevada as my brother Brian and I pulled out of Bishop CA and began our journey across the country to move Scout and I to Madison WI. Brian was driving the U-Haul, Scout and I were in my truck. After a day of rain, some of it quite heavy near Flagstaff, we stopped for the night in Holbrook AZ. 600 miles were down, but we still had 1400 more to go. Plus there was a storm dumping snow in the Rockies getting ready to move into, Iowa and Missouri, two states that we had to go through.

Sierra Storm

Looks like the Sierra Nevada got a good dumping last night. Mammoth Mountain is reporting 12 inches of new snow. Kirkwood is reporting 8-12 inches. Not bad considering the last thing I read said that Mammoth would only get a few inches.

I was just reading the extended forecast discussion on  MammothWeather.com and Howard is talking about the possibility of a good storm pattern developing over California the second week of Dec. Let’s hope that he’s right.

Video Snapshot: Fall 2009, Petrifying Springs

I was playing around with the video camera today and came across 3 video clips that I shot back in October. I had completely forgotten about these. They were shot at Petrifying Springs on a day that was to windy to shoot still pictures. I went ahead and put them together this afternoon and made a little video snapshot for you guys. Hope you enjoy it.

Doing Some Reminiscing

November 27th, 2009 Author: Steven

As the two year anniversary of my move from California to Wisconsin approaches, I’ve been doing some reminiscing.  I’ve just spent a good portion of this morning traveling back in time by reading some of my archived blog posts.

It’s pretty interesting to go back and read the old posts. I mostly concentrated my first three months here in Wisconsin. Back when everything was new and exciting. There seemed to be new discoveries around every corner. My enthusiasm and enjoyment for my first Wisconsin winter really shows through. Even shoveling snow was a great pleasure back then.

Those first few months are a very special part of my life. My life was being reborn and all of the scattered pieces were beginning to come back together. I truly loved living in Madison. Looking back now, I see that Madison was a time of transition for me. It was the bridge between my old life in California and my new life in Wisconsin. I treasure those few months that I lived there. It’s so wonderful to be able to look back at my blog archives and relive those memories again.
