Thunderstorm over Lake Michigan

June 17th, 2011 Author:

I shot this last evening while on my way to a pet sit. It’s a two image pano of a storm over Lake Michigan at sunset. The image was shot and processed on my iPhone. If it wasn’t for my iPhone I would have missed a beautiful photo because I didn’t have another camera with me. Just goes to show, the best camera is the one you have with you!

My Big Distraction

June 16th, 2011 Author:

Hey guys, sorry I haven’t posted for over a week. I’ve been very distracted lately. Distracted by what, you may be wondering. I’ve been distracted by her:

Meet Annie, the newest member of our family. She’s a Chow / Shepard mix that we have adopted from One Tail at a Time rescue out of Chicago. They say that she’s 3 years old, but I’m thinking she might be younger than that. I’ll know more when my vet looks at her.

I had Annie as a client for dog walking, I’m not going to go into details, but the opportunity came up for us to adopt her. I began to fall in love with her the day I met her so when the opportunity came, we jumped at the chance to get her.

For those of you who know the issues that our dog Scout has had with other dogs, he is doing great with Annie. That’s one of the reasons I wanted her. I just knew that she would be a good companion for Scout. They have become pals and seem to grow closer each day. In fact, as I write this, they are laying side by side on the floor next to me.

Needless to say, the last week has been pretty hectic. Annie has had to learn the rules of the house and we’ve all had to learn how to live with Annie, this includes Annie proofing each room! It’s been quite an adventure, but we’re all starting to adjust and yesterday was the first real relaxing , somewhat normal day we’ve had.

Now we have to get the cats use to her. They’re getting there, but it’s going to take awhile longer. She’s very playful and energetic and they aren’t use to that. Noel seems to be adapting better than Sunny. The same thing happened when they met Scout, Noel adjusted first, but Sunny and Scout became buds first.

Anyway, I’ll try to get back to regular posting again. I have some pictures from the Port Washington Pirate Festival to share and will get them up soon.

Severe Thunderstorm Watch

June 8th, 2011 Author:

Severe Thunderstorm Watch #441 was just issued for all of SE Wisconsin, including Kenosha.

At 5:00pm CDT storms are beginning to fire here in SE WI. The action should pick up as the evening progresses and the cold front begins to move through. The main threat this evening will be large hail and damaging winds, but tornadoes can’t be ruled out.

My high temp at the house today was 94 with a heat index of 100. Yesterday’s high was 96. These are the two hottest days we’ve had in the 3 1/2 years that I’ve lived in Wisconsin.

Tomorrow the bottom drops out of the temps though. Thursday’s forecasted high in Kenosha, 58! We stay in the high 50′s to low 60′s for the next five days with rain chances 4 of the 5.

So much for summer.
