Art Auction at Mountain Light Gallery

This coming Saturday, the 15th of November, Galen Rowell’s Mountain light Gallery will be holding an art auction to raise money for the rebuilding of the Bristlecone Pine Visitor Center that burnt down this year. Here is the official announcement.

The Eastern Sierra Interpretive Association, in partnership with the Inyo National Forest, is pleased to announce plans for an art auction to be held to assist with the reconstruction of a new visitor center in the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest.  Planned for Saturday November 15, from 6:30 to 9: 00 pm at the Mountain Light Gallery, the gala event will auction off original prints, water colors, sculptures, pottery and other works of art focusing on the ancient bristlecone pines.

The $5 admission donation will include light refreshments, beer or wine, and music.  A grand prize drawing for a week in Hawaii will cap off the festivities.

The non-profit interpretive association is helping to raise funds to be used for matching grant applications for the eventual funding and reconstruction of the visitor center at Schulman Grove.  For additional information on the art auction fund raiser, please contact John Louth at 873-2514 or Debbe Eilts at 873-2411.

If you happen to be in Bishop this weekend, you might want to check it out.

Also, here is link to a video shot with Galen and Barbara Rowell in the Owens Valley in the Fall of 2000.  Of course Galen and Barbara were tragically killed when their plane crashed in the summer of 2002 while aproching the Bishop Airport. This video is a nice tribute to two people who loved the Eastern Sierra very much.

The video follows Galen and Barbara for a day photographing the valley and flying over the Sierra.
