Back country hiking advisory
If you are planning on hiking the Sierra back country over the next 5 days you’d be smart to change your plans. The local weather forecasters are now calling for 6 – 8 inches of snow above 9000′ by Saturday. A pretty good early season storm is knocking on the door and it will be getting nasty in the high mountains.

I sure hope some of you folks went onto the webcams this morning. There was some lovely snow in Yosemite at the higher elevations and it was sure exciting to see it. Also, looks like a decent dusting in Mammoth early. Surprised to see that the snow in Yosemite had melted already, but… it is September. For you, Steve, I am sure you are delighted with all this. The clouds are spectacular and the shade on the mountains and all. I bet you are delighted!! Lisa
Thanks Steven for you heads up about the weather. We’re from Redondo Beach and we were going to head up to Mammoth this morning but decided to wait until Sunday after reading your info. Thanks. Love you web site! Jean
