Bishop Creek Fires

July 18th, 2009 Author: Steven

I still don’t know anything about these fires. All I can tell you for sure is that Hwy 168, the road that climbs Bishop Creek, is closed 3 miles west of Bishop. That’s near the Buttermilk turn off.

As we have found out in the past, it’s hard to get information from Bishop when things happen on a weekend. I’ll keep my eyes open on the web for any information I can get. If any Eastern Sierra locals want to help out, feel free to comment.

sorry for the late report everyone. Here’s a little write up on my blog w/ links to the official scoop: http://sierraimpressions.blogspot.com/2009/07/fire-in-bishop-crk-canyon.html

I’ve got the webcam pointed at the fire and will keep it there until it’s out. I was in the middle of changing servers and getting my website up and transfering the webcam to it’s own domain. so I was off line for most of the day, as you might have seen, or didn’t. ;)

The webcam has moved to Bishopweather.com and I will be updating links today. Shouldn’t have any done time, fingers crossed.

I did just hear on the scanner that traffic is being escorted on 168 right now. don’t know if that is for locals or campers/hikers coming down.
