California WebCams Update
I just finished updating the California WebCams listing on the cams page. I’ve added many new cameras that have been sugested over the last few months. I also included a link to the CalTrans Traffic Cams page so you can go there and have access to all their traffic cams.
I noticed something while doing this update, the cams page is getting out of control! There are so many cams on there now that it’s hard to find what you’re looking for. I need to do a major update and redesign of the cams page, I’m just not sure how to do it.
One idea I have is to list the cams in groups by the area they are in, similar to how I did the Wisconsin Cams page. What do you guys think?
If you can come up with any other ideas that might make navigating the cams page easier, let me know. I’m totally open to suggestions.

First of all, thank you for providing this web site. Not many days go by without me “checking” on my favorite places in the Sierras. And now with the Wisconsin links, my wife is from Oshkosh, I can “see” many places that I have been there as well!
Your idea of listing the Sierra cams in groups would make it very easy to navigate. I am a 4th grade teacher and frequently use your page during “California” geography!
Mostly, just wanted to say thank you!!!
Very cool John!
Perhaps the easiest way would be to put them in alphabetical order? Or would that cause confusion as well?
(BTW – i think it’s terrific that the previous poster said they use your page to help teach his class “California” Geography – I love it!)
Steven – how about alphabetical order within a geographical ares? ie: the sierras, southern calif, central valley, coastal, desert, etc. well, anyway the possibilities are endless.
I really don’t care how the cams are organized, I am just so thankful for the cam page. When I drive south I use your cams to check out the road conditions. I also love looking at my favorite places. Again Thank You for the cam page.
I just start out with the cams in the north and come south…works for me…..bottom line Steve: we like having them up any ol’ way./
