Can you believe it?
Where were you one year ago today?
I’ll tell you where I was.
One year ago today my brother and I pulled out of Bishop and started our 2100 mile journey to the great Midwest.
On that first day we drove from Bishop to Holbrook Az. We had rain most of the way and hit major rain going through the mountains in Flagstaff Az.
It’s hard to believe that it’s been a year. I’ll have much more on this later this week.

A year ago today we were driving long distance too. We were returning from thanksgiving in the Bay Area. Instead of take I5 and dealing with holiday traffic we drove down CA-1 through Big Sur. Drive took a few hours longer but great scenery. The bright side is the 500 mile drive seemed short since just a few weeks before we had returned from our 7100 mile cross country trip. California -> Florida -> Pennsylvania -> California.
A year ago today, I was home putting up Christmas lights all over our porch and being thankful that my brother’s home had not burned down in the recent fires in the San Bernardino mountains. (came veeeery close, tho….fire had ‘creeped’ into his yard, burnt his picnic table to the ground and came within 6 ins. of his foundation b/4 it was stopped.)
Hey Steve, I just read your “story” of tragedy and ongoing healing. I recently lost my mom to cancer, just about broke me up inside for good. I also lost both of my beloved German Shepherd hiking partners, which was tough. It’s still difficult to imagine the emotions and heartache you’ve gone through. As you know, one day at a time with the help of God, and the hope that God provides, helps us keep on going. Take care and God bless you.
