Music, music, music

It’s been a musical day. I’ve spent most of the day getting the iPod ready for our trip. Oh man have we got a mix of music. Everything from hard rock to bluegrass to soft rock to who knows what else. It’s so cool though, I have 5.5 gigabytes of music on the iPod. Just think how many CDs we’d have to carry otherwise. The inventor of the MP3 player is a life saver.

On another musical note, I just found a very cool site called Pandora.com

It’s an internet radio site, but what’s cool about it is that you type in a band that you like, and it chooses songs from that band and other bands that are similar to them. So the site creates a station based on your musical taste. It does a pretty good job of it too. If there are songs that you don’t like, you can give them a thumbs down so they aren’t played again.

If you like streaming music on your computer go check Pandora out. Also, if you have an iPhone or iPod Touch, they have a mobil version too.

Finally, Railroad Earth on Video

Not sure how many of you know of iClips.net. It’s a web site that shows live concert performances of many modern bands. They also archive many of these shows so they can be viewed at any time. Over the summer iClips shows a lot of the music festivals that take place across the country. And best of all, it’s free.

Railroad Earth was shown a number of times this past summer performing at different festivals, but they were never put into the archives, until now. The show is from June of 2008 at the Ogden Theater in Denver. Now you guys can not only hear but see how great these guys are and the pure enjoyment they have for making music. Go check it out. I’m watching it as I type this.

Out of Curiosity

January 7th, 2009 Author: Steven

As you guys may or may not know, I play guitar, acoustic guitar. And for some reason it just popped into my head to ask if any of you make music too.

So, is anybody else out there a musician?
Anyone play an instrument? Guitar, piano, drums, sax, trumpet, tuba, spoons…. anything?

If so, what kind of music do you play? Are you in a band?

Just curious.
