I’m here!!!

December 5th, 2007 Author: Steven

Howdee from Wisconsin. I made it despite mother nature. I Have been here since Monday, but I didn’t have any internet access until 30 minutes ago. I now have my internet hooked up and I’m ready to go.

We were pretty lucky with the drive here. We had rain all day on Friday with some very heavy rain in Flagstaff Az. But nothing that slowed us down to much. We made it to Holbrook Az Friday night. Saturday brought sunshine and warm temps and wind. All through New Mexico the wind blew. Sometimes a side wind, sometimes a tail wind, but no matter which way it blew and blew. We made it to a little town in Kansas called Platt, it’s about 70 miles from Wichita, and spent  Saturday night there.

Sunday it was cloudy, the wind was blowing hard and it was COLD!! We fought the wind all day Sunday until we got to I-80 in Iowa,  then we finally had a tail wind. By the time we got to Iowa the roads had cleared and there and there was even blue sky. We ended up staying in Cedar Falls Iowa on Sunday night because we didn’t know how clear the roads were in Wisconsin and we didn’t want to take any chances of finding ice at night. When we got to Cedar Falls the temp was 18 and the wind was blowing a good 30-40 mph out of the north. As Tammy would say “BRRR, BRRRRR, BRRRRR, FREAKING BRRRRRRR!!!!!!”

We pulled into Madison about 10:30 on Monday morning. We missed the storm and didn’t even have to deal with the effects of it. We sure saw the effects of it thought. We saw a lot of rolled cars and big rigs.

We got everything into the house yesterday, and right as we finished, the first few flakes started to fall. We got 5 inches of snow last night. They are calling for 2 more inches tomorrow and more this weekend. My downstairs neighbor told me that this much snow in Dec. is unusual and that I must have caused it.

Scout is doing good. He made the trip ok and is starting to get use to the new home. He is pretty interested in the squirrels in the back yard. (Oh by the way, the yard is HUGE!! It is going to be so good for him this summer. I’ll take some pics of the place for you guys.) He doesn’t mind the snow to much. Of course he’s somewhat use to it.

Guess that all for now. I need to get a bite to eat and get to work. It’s currently 17 outside, but in the sun it doesn’t feel bad at all. So I will talk to you guys later.

Here I go……………

November 25th, 2007 Author: Steven

Ok guys, here it is, the official announcement.
I’ll be leaving for Wisconsin this Friday the 30th.
It’s pretty hard for me to believe, I only have four more days in the Eastern Sierra. Wow!!

So I’ll be leaving on Friday, having Scout with me and with my brother driving the U-haul truck it’s going to take us three days to get there, so I should be there on Sunday.

Hopefully I can get my internet turned on right away. If not I’ll find access somewhere and let you guys know that I made it ok.

Update on Me

November 15th, 2007 Author: Steven

I just wanted to give you guys an update on how things are going with my move to Wisconsin. I now have a place to live back there. Just signed the lease and mailed the rent and deposit checks yesterday. I haven’t even seen the place, but Cande says it’s really nice. They are putting in all new appliances and totally redoing the bathroom. The lady who owns it has been great to talk to on the phone. It’s a two bedroom upstairs apartment. There is only one other apartment in the building and that’s below me. It has a large yard and garden and is in a very nice neighborhood. In fact, it’s only a couple of blocks from the house that Tammy grew up in. The schools she went to are just down the street. I didn’t plan on that happening at all, but at least know what the area looks like because we drove all around it while I was back there.

Also, just this afternoon I applied for a job at the University of Wisconsin Hospital as a supply tech.

Wow! Things are moving along pretty quickly now. I don’t think it’s totally sunk in yet.

I can’t move into the place until the first of Dec. so i still have a couple more weeks in the Eastern Sierra. But I have a lot of packing and planning to do in the next two weeks. I am hoping to squeeze in a day trip to Yosemite though :-)

New site possible

October 31st, 2007 Author: Steven

Both Karl and Terry mentioned about the possibility of a Wisconsin web site. I don’t know about a Wisconsin site, but I will most likely start another site to go along with SierraVisions. I’ve thought about it for some time now, I even considered doing it while here in Bishop. The new site will be more about me and my life right then. So it will of course have a lot of Wisconsin in it including any photos I take and poems that I write that wouldn’t fit into SierraVisions. It will also have more about music in it.

One of the reasons I’m moving to Madison is because of the music scene there. I really want to get together with other musicians and try to get something going. So the new site will have a lot of that in it too.

I don’t have any time frame on this and most of it is still in the thinking stage. But it will most likely happen once I’m settled in. I have a feeling I’ll have a lot of time this winter to get it going.
