Finally Some Snow

After watching all of Wisconsin get snow yesterday while we got just under an inch of rain, and then getting hit by the dry slot in the storm once temps got below freezing overnight, it’s finally our turn to see some snow.  It’s been snowing light to moderate with a few burst of harder snow in Kenosha since 6:50 this morning. We’ve picked up at least an inch, maybe more. It’s hard to measure because it’s blowing around in the high winds.

Here’s a short video snapshot I took this morning around 9:45.

I’m not sure how much snow we’ll end up with today, maybe another inch or two. The temperatures are beginning to drop though. It’s currently 26 out with winds blowing out of the north at 15-20 mph and gusts up around 30. Temps will be dropping all day down to a  low of 5 tonight. Tomorrows high will be 13, then a low of 3 and back into the teens on Tues. It will then warm back up into the mid 20′s on Wed. as our next chance of snow moves in.

Kenosha’s First Snow of the Season

Here’s a video snapshot of this afternoon’s snow. We only got about half an inch. It looks like a lot more than that in the video, but that’s because the snow was so light and fluffy that it laid on top of the grass. This snow was so light it was like down feathers.

Looks like it snowing out there again. They are still calling for 3-5 inches tonight. Tomorrow morning may be a beautiful one. I’m hoping so. I love going out to photograph the season’s first snowfall.

Video Snapshot: Fall 2009, Petrifying Springs

November 27th, 2009 Author:

I was playing around with the video camera today and came across 3 video clips that I shot back in October. I had completely forgotten about these. They were shot at Petrifying Springs on a day that was to windy to shoot still pictures. I went ahead and put them together this afternoon and made a little video snapshot for you guys. Hope you enjoy it.

Video Snapshot #1, Wisconsin Snow

January 23rd, 2008 Author:

Sometimes you just can’t capture the beauty of nature in a photograph. My Minolta digital camera has the ability to capture video at decent quality, so I’ve decided to start using it to capture Video Snapshots. These are images where the video shows a beauty that the still photo can’t show.

This is the first in what I hope will be a long series of Video Snapshots. It’s of the snow we had here in Wisconsin on Monday. It was shot from my balcony. I composed the shots and let Mother Nature do the rest. There isn’t any sound in the snapshot, but future ones will have sound and maybe music.
Enjoy!
