It gets pretty nasty up there. Here's what the Wikipedia has to say; "Annual storms on Lake Superior regularly record wave heights of over 20 feet (6 m). I know a guy here who is originally from Minnesota and he claims that the largest known waves in the world (ocean or lake) have occurred on Lake Superior.
