Mike, here's the mount I use http://www.amazon.com/Delkin-Devices-DDMOUNT-MINI-Knuckle-Suction/dp/B002K8Q0EU/ref=pd_cp_p_1
It works ok, the biggest problem I have with it for video is camera shake. For still pictures it might work better.

Here's the mount most storm chasers use http://www.filmtools.com/filmtools-in-car-windshield-camera-mount.html
If I had known about this before I got mine, I would have got it. It's a little more expensive, but they say it's rock solid and camera shake isn't a problem.

I had a reader send me a link to how this video was made, it was very labor intensive. Unfortunately the video is no longer available. I think they pulled it off because of a bunch of very rude and uncalled for comments that were made.

You need a window mount like I use when I shoot my driving videos.

Pretty cool. I thought it woudl be cool next trip I do across country to setup my DSLR with the autotimer switch to take one shot ever 30 or 60 seconds. Have it mounted to it photographs the entire drive across country. You would then have a 3 minute video of driving 2800 miles from CA to PA.

Only problem is the tripod and camera would take up the front seat, so my wife would have no place to sit. =)
