This Morning’s Weather
Check out this mornings radar. Classic lake effect snow on the Great Lakes.
I tried to look at the Grand Haven cam from Michigan and it’s totally snowed over.
I had a low of zero at the house this morning. That’s our coldest morning so far. Right now it’s 1 with west winds about 20 mph. That puts the wind chill around -20.
When I took Scout out this morning it didn’t seem to bother him to much. He was taking his time and smelling everything. I told him to hurry up and get his business done, it’s cold.
It’s really not to bad being in wind chills like that for a short time. My coat and gloves are totally warm, I don’t feel any cold on my upper body, except for my face because it’s exposed. That wind does cut right through jeans though. I’m glad I don’t have to be out working in this cold. Wouldn’t want to deal with it for more than 10-15 minutes.

Jeans never keep the cold out….however, L.L. Bean sells flannel-lined jeans which can be very warm & comfy and R.E.I. sells silk knit-longjohns and those keep a person VERY snuggie under just about anything without being bulky. Just suggestions….knowing that you really DO want to go out in the cold so you can take more fantastic photographs !!!
Thanks Kathleen.
I have a good pair of long underwear, just didn’t have them on this morning. I also have a pair of flannel lined jeans that Tammy bought me, they no longer fit
Lynne and I saw some flannel lined and fleece lined jeans at the Bass Pro Shops store the other day. I’m thinking of getting a pair.
ya, you guys got hammered the last couple days. Working out in the cold is one thing, when it’s windy too, forget about it! The last week in october we got a little bit of snow on the upper sherwin grade, and we(the survey crew) had to go up there and start a topo survey. It was probably in the mid 20′s but the wind was ripping. Setting up the gps base station at the top of a cut slope in that wind and cold was brutal. Glad that was my last week w/ surveys before the real winter weather hit! I have heard stories from the emergency repair in walker canyon, winter 97/98 where the river took out the road. Those guys never saw the sun down there and it was minus numbers and hardly above double digits most of the time. Forget about it!
