Laws Railroad Museum

April 13th, 2007 Author:

Since there isn’t a wildflower to be found in the Bishop area, I decided to go out to Laws Railroad Museum and play around shooting some digital black and white. It’s a blast shooting black and white this way. I set my camera to the B&W setting and away I went. I saw Laws in a way I’ve never seen it before. It makes such a huge difference when you can see the black and white image right on your camera.

For those who don’t know, Laws is located about 6 miles out of Bishop on Hwy 6. In the 1880′s it was a watering stop for the Carson & Colorado Railroad. A little town built up around it called Laws. If you go to the link above you can get the full story. Laws is now a museum that houses plenty of Owens Valley history. It’s a great place to take the kids while you’re in Bishop. It’s also a fun place to photograph. I go out there a couple of times a year to shoot. I try different things each time I go there. Like today, I’ve never shot black and white there before.

Here are some of the better images I got.

Love these pictures Steve. Cecil & I try and visit Law’s every summer, you always see something new and different. The museum runs on donations, so they need all the support we can give them. Thanks

Steven – some very good pictures. i’ve been to laws a few times and there are many good pictures opportunities. i like to think there is some relationship between it and my family. there is a “laws” line on my mother’s side and there is a ” shaw” house there which is my name.
