Lighthouse and Daffodils

May 1st, 2008 Author: Steven

Spring is here in Wisconsin, the birds and the flowers are telling us so. Here are some Daffodil shots from out at Petrifying Springs (I called it Petrified Springs before, that was wrong.)

The same evening that we shot these daffodil pics, we ran out to the Wind Point Lighthouse in Racine in hopes of catching a nice sunset. Well the sunset didn’t happen the way I hoped, but I got some interesting shots of the lighthouse after the sun went down. Some of them even have the light in the shot.

Steven, looks like Lynn is givng you some competition in the photography arena! nice to see you in the process.
it’s interesting to see how each area has it’s own native flowers.

Thank you for the compliment, Terry. I developed a strong interest in photography in mid-90s. Since then I’ve been in the habit of carrying my camera with me, and constantly look for how I can photograph things of interest to me. Steven is teaching me how to cross over to the digital side now, and I’m enjoying it. There’s lots of places to explore here in WI so there will be more pictures to come. Keep watchin!

I remember driving from New Orleans to North Carolina in the early part of April. We had taken Amtrak to New Orleans, which was neat, but it was great heading north at this time of year because New Orleans was full of blooms and everything was green. The further north we got the more like winter it became. In Mississippi there were plenty of flowering trees, but as we headed into Tennesse, the trees were just starting to bud. In North Carolina everything was still pretty sparse, but the daffodils were spectacular. They had big gardens full of them along the back roads and even off the interstate. So… neat memories and your photos brought them back. Thanks, Steve… as always. Lisa
