Our Biggest Storm This Winter

February 9th, 2010 Author: Steven

Not sure when the snow began overnight, but we have 2 inches so far. This is just the beginning of a very snowy day. We are still forecast to get 9-14 inches with possible higher amounts where the lake effect bands settle in.

The snow is coming in waves this morning. I look out the window and can barely see across the street, then a minute later it’s not snowing, then it starts dumping again. It’s been doing that all morning.

The wind is blowing hard off of the lake right now. It’s supposed to shift to the north-east this afternoon and that’s when the lake effect snow will really kick in.

I’ll keep ya updated.

So will people curtail their activities (e.g. stay home from work, not go shopping, etc.) on a day like today, or does everybody just take it in stride and soldier on through it?

It’s according to how well they keep the roads plowed. If they can keep the roads clear, people pretty much go about their daily routines. Looks like they’re doing a good job today and traffic on Sheridan Rd is about normal.

It looks like most schools are closed today though.

That would be awesome if somebody could go out and shoot some video and take action photos of typical street scenes…

          Yeah that would.
But this somebody has been fighting a chest cold that won’t go away and doesn’t think he should play in the snow today. Sorry :-(

I hear you dude. I’m going on three weeks of having a cold that won’t go away. Maybe you could strap your video camera onto Scout’s head and send him out on a long leash. It could be the Scout Cam.
