I have been writing poetry since the mid nineties. I actually started dabbling in poetry around 1988 or so. My first attempts were pretty bad and I gave it up. Then around 1995 I went through a spell were I became very frustrated with my photography. I found that I couldn’t capture the scenes the way I wanted to capture them and I became so frustrated that I quit taking pictures. It was during this time that the poetry erupted from my soul.

From 1995 - 1998 I wrote poem after poem. Sometimes I would write two or three a day. I found that through poetry I could express my love of nature in a way that my photos never could.  So I wrote and wrote for about four years, hardly taking any pictures at all. Then one day the poetic stream dried up. Just as fast as it came, it left. I went back to photography and found that now I could capture the images the way I wanted to capture them.

Since ‘98 the poems have come and gone. I go through spurts of writing where I’ll write four or five poems in a week, and then not write again for months. It seems like the poems come out during emotional times of my life. Times when the only way to express myself is through poetry.

I have been publishing my poems on SierraVisions for years. But they are scattered throughout the site and can be hard to find. So I felt it was time to give them their own home where they can be easily accessed and enjoyed by everyone.
