Some Good Severe Weather Information

November 19th, 2009 Author:

I just received a couple of links that have some really good information about severe thunderstorms and tornadoes. I want to pass them along to you guys because like my Twitter buddy Matt just said, “The more education about severe weather, the better! Everyone should be prepared!”

Remember, severe thunderstorms and tornadoes can happen anywhere at any time of year. It’s good to know what warning signs to look for as you glance at the sky.

This first link is to a PDF called Basic Spotters Field Guide. It’s put out by the NOAA and has lots of good info in it. I just finished reading it and learned a lot of things I didn’t know about thunderstorms.

The second link is to the SKYWARN Storm Spotters Online Guide. This guide features basic and advanced classes in severe weather training. There is also a class on storm chasing if you’re curious about that. Tons of great information can be found here.

I’ll be reading through all three classes in my spare time.
