What are your plans for the 4th
I’m just wandering what everyone has planned for the 4th of July this year. With it being on a Wed. it makes it a little hard to do much unless your taking some extra days off to play.
I have company showing up this evening. Tammy’s mom and dad and uncle will be here tonight. Her uncle will stay until Tuesday or Wednesday, here mom and dad will most likely be here until next weekend. I also have my cousin Norm coming up tomorrow to go do some fishing. His two boys are coming with him. They are here until Tuesday. So I’m going to be a pretty busy boy for the next week.
I’ll try to keep things updated here, but if I don’t get any post up you know why.
I hope we can get through this 4th without to many boneheads starting fires in the mountains. I’m a little worried about it myself. Let’s just hope that everyone is very careful with their campfires and please don’t bring any fireworks into the mountains. Let’s all have a fire safe 4th.

We are going to stay home, and take care of the critters. I am sure we will bbq. We have the advantage of watching Magic Mountain’s fireworks from our front yard. The moll also puts on a show we can see. Ok, so tell us what your plans are Steven… Are you going to the airport, the park? Or just hanging with the critters? What ever you do, take a deep breath for us!!
Hang in there!!
I’m not sure what we’ll do. The last three years Tammy and I have gone out to the base of the Whites and watched the fireworks at the airport. I’ve done the airport gig a few times and it’s not really my thing. To many people in to small of an area.
Most likely we’ll just hang out at the house. Scout doesn’t like fireworks so I do have to be here with him to keep him calm.
Most likely I’ll be working. It’s a company holiday but I have too much stuff to get done.
In the evening we have a fireworks show over the lake (Big Bear Lake), last year my boss took us out on his boat to see them, not sure what we’ll do this year.
I know what you mean about too many people in a small area. With the town population trippling or so here, it’s gonna be a mess of traffic.
It’s my birthday.
I may be in Folsom to watch the fireworks there. We haven’t figured out my birthday plans yet.

i live in one of the few cities left in “the oc” that still allow (safe and sane) fireworks (although i hear they are used throughout the county). i have to admit i enjoyed fireworks growing up. unfortunately both legal and illegal pyrotechnics are now used indescriminately. the city becomes like bagdad under siege. before my parents passed on, one of them would sit on the roof sundeck with a hose guarding their property against the errant spark. now i have assumed that responsibility. it is a large lot with a lot of trees and we have found rockets in the yard in previous years. i and a few others have pushed the city council to outlaw fireworks or drastically restrict them but our pleas have fallen on deaf ears. they have taken some minor steps, but nothing to really address the problem. they defend them as 1)patriotic and 2)supporting the local nonprofit groups. there ways to achieve both, but they won’t budge. i apologize for venting, but what used to be an enjoyable holiday is now one i would just as soon forget. now you know where i will be, on top of a roof with a hose. :^(
I’ll be watching the fireworks at Crowley. Leaving to go up there tomorrow. I can’t wait.
Cecil & I will be staying home for the 4th. We too will be keeping out kitty indoors as she doesn’t like the sound of loud noises. Camarillo does not allow fireworks but that doesn’t stop the people going over to Fillmore and buying them and bringing them back. Big fine for them “if” they are caught, that never seems to happen. Our local firework show was taken away from a park that was next to our local animal shelter this year and will be at the High School. Lots of people complained the animals at the shelter couldn’t stand the loud noises but what do our animals think of the loud noises……doesn’t make sense to me. I think the only way to see them is the safe way, especially this year given all the fires. Sounds like you will be a very busy boy Steve……Cecil & I are counting the days before heading up your way and getting in some fishing. Hope everyone has a very safe and sane 4th of July………
I will be home protecting my home Steven. I agree with you. So many come up from the valley with fireworks and start small fires every year. I don’t understand…I plan on getting the New Climate of Our Future up and running.
Hey Steve - Hope your 4th turns out to be really neat! I am staying home, here in the Santa Monica Mountains, for the holiday, but will head to Calabasas High School to watch the fireworks there. In some years we have stayed on top of the hills and watched the displays in the Valley (San Fernando), but there is a lot more excitement to be part of the “uhs” and “ahs” when they explode overhead. I, obviously, am concerned about the fire situation, but LA City and County Fire Departments are the greatest and really keep a close eye on things and up here in the hills, nobody takes any chances with their own fireworks.. at least none that I know about. So, there it is. It was interesting seeing what everyone else was doing and I am glad you asked the question. Take Care and God Bless you an God Bless America! Lisa W.
