Where do Oreos come from?
So, where do Oreo Cookies come from?
They come from Oreo Cows!!
This one is a double stuff. My favorite!!
I would have taken more pictures of the Oreo Cows, but the mosquitoes were being very hungry and rude. So I grabbed a couple of quick pics and took off.

And the milk is built right in!!!!
Hi Steven - I love the way your mind works!! Love the oreos. With are that water in Wis. there must be mosquitos. What about lightening bugs? Are they out yet?
Hey have you looked at the Bishop cam? I have never seen it so bad. You cant even tell there are mountains. Yuck!! I think there is a lot of us, that wish we were in Wis. smoke free!!
Take care!
I haven’t seen and lightening bugs yet, but they should be coming out soon. I looked online and found that in Minnesota they come out late June, early July. So I imagine I will be seeing them soon. I watch every night when I take Scout out.
As for the skeeters, they are considered the state bird of Wisconsin
So far I haven’t seen them as bad as I’ve seen them in the Sierra, but they are getting worse every day. They are also a little smaller than Sierra skeeters, but just as nasty. The one’s last evening were pretty aggressive, I felt five biting me at one time while taking those pictures.
FYI, Bull Frog makes a sunscreen/mosquito repellent that is Deet Free and it seems to work pretty good. When I’ve had it on, they leave me alone.
There is a vitamin… either B1 or B12, (ask a pharmacist,) but taken daily, skeeters wont bite!! It takes a week, to kick in… But eveytime I have taken it, it works!! Even in the Sierras!! The times I havent taken it, I wish I had!!
Wait a minute! I thought skeeters were the State Bird of Minnesota ??!? hmmmmmmm……
Good stuff.. how fun!!! Continuing to enjoy hearing from you and will look forward to hearing about the lightening bugs. I saw them for this first time in Missiouri when we drove across country in our RV. I was enthralled… like a kid.. they were so much fun. Anyway… may God Bless your day! Lisa
wait, wait…i thought skeeters were the state bird of alaska! speaking of skeeters, i had more than my fill of them, actually they did of me, this past weekend while camping in riverside county. but they’ve always loved me. the feeling is not mutual. however, i do like lightning bugs. my only real exposure to them was when my wife and i visited her sister/bro-in-law in virginia some years back. like lisa said, lots of fun.
well getting back to the sierras, following is a link to a la times article from wednesday about george “billy goat” woodard who has hoofed it all over the US, including the pacific crest trail, which he is currently traversing:

Yes, these are Oreo Cows alright…..they can’t be California Cows…….ours make cheese. Really love these pic’s Steve and had a good laugh with them. Doesn’t it make you hungry and want to go out and buy a bag of Oreo cookies? Thanks……
Happy cows come from California.
(Don’t tell anyone back here I said that.)
Oh but check this out, I have seen a California Happy Cows commercial on a Wisconsin TV station. I bet the person who did that got fired.
If you haven’t already, check out the Happy Cows web site.

I forgot to tell you guys, if you’re traveling Hwy 395 into Nevada, watch for Oreo Cows north of Carson City. They’ll be on the east side of the highway just as you’re coming into the Washoe Lake area. That is the first area I ever saw them.
Lynne and I saw some on one of our drives north of Milwaukee. I was totally surprised to find them the other day so close to my home. There are two farms that have them. The farm that I took the pictures at also had brown Oreo cows. Maybe they give chocolate milk with their cookies
