Farmers Pond is a field where cows, horses and sheep graze right next to highway 395. If you coming into Bishop from the LA area it is on your left side prior to hitting Jack and the Box. There are trees in the distance and usually the field fills with snow runoff thus giving the name Farmers Pond. If you get there early in the morning ie> 5am... you can catch the sunrise colors in the runoff with crystal clear skies and majestic mountains in the background. There is still a lot of snow on the ground in the Giant Forest area, the meadows up at the top are just thawed out, with lots of grasses and wildflowers starting to pop up.
